Effet Doppler — Calculez la fréquence observée due au mouvement relatif.

Enter values and press Calculate

How to use it

  1. Source frequency f₀ = 500 Hz, v_sound = m/s
  2. Source velocity vₛ = m/s (toward observer, positive)
  3. Observer velocity vₒ = m/s (toward source, positive)
  4. Apply formule: 500 × (343 + 10) ÷ (343 - 25) = 500 × ÷ 318

Common mistakes

  • ⚠️ Using wrong sign convention for velocities
  • ⚠️ Confusing source and observer velocity positions in formule
  • ⚠️ Not accounting for direction of motion (toward vs away)

Worked example

Calculate observed frequency when source moves at m/s toward observer moving at m/s.

The observed frequency {f_obs} Hz changes due to relative motion between source and observer.
